Gold Label Green Lipped Mussel can be used to support healthy, pain free muscles in horses. Naturally occurring Chondroitin, fatty acids and Gamma Linolenic Acids help to lubricate joints, provide shock absorption in the cartilage and elasticity in the ligaments.
Each measure contains 1.5g of pure New Zealand Green Lipped Mussel extract mixed with a carrot powder base for palatability.
Feed 2 x 15g measures daily for 10 days, then 1 x 15g measure after.

The Gold Label Green Lipped Mussel for Horses typically contains around 5-10% fat by weight. This fat content primarily consists of beneficial omega-3 fatty acids such as EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), which are known for their anti-inflammatory properties and support joint health.

We would not advise using this on dogs, as it is not specified for them.

Just wondering if we should continue glucosamine as well as green lipped mussel in our horse who has a firm diagnosis or arthritis?
Green Lipped Mussel is a good source of Chondroitin which is a different ingredient that helps the joint separate from Glucosamine.
I recommend still continuing Glucosamine alongside this as they both work differently and will help the joint in their own way.

Each 15g measure contains 1.5g of pure New Zealand Green Lipped Mussel extract. The rate of chondroitin sulphate in New Zealand green lipped mussel is at 2% and therefore 30mg per measure.

Is there any reason I couldn't use this on my dog
This product is intended for use in horses only so I cannot gaurantee it will be safe for use in your dog. I recommend using a dog friendly joint supplement instead, such as our own brand Joint Force.

Can this be given to dogs to help with weak joints in front legs. Obviously in much smaller dose?
This product is intended for use in horses and a dog safe dose has not been estabilished. I strongly recommend using dog friendly joint supplements, such as our own brand Joint Force. This contains Green Lipped Mussel amongst other good ingredients to support the joint.

This product is intended for horses so I cannot recommend that you give it to your dog. However, green lipped mussel is used in many dog joint supplements so would be unlikely to cause a problem. If you are looking for a cost effective joint supplement for your dog then you could try our own Joint Force which is specially formulated for dogs and contains green lipped mussel.

This product should be perfectly OK for such horses, though it is unlikely to help directly either. I would expect it to be neutral to this condition.

Is this product suitable/Safe for laminitics or cushing horses with also joint issues?

Green-lipped mussels had a very low carbohydrate content compared with other foods given to horses and so They should not be a problem for laminitic or Cushingoid horses. I think you will be safe to use this supplement, though it is sensible to introduce any dietary change gradually for horses prone to laminitis. I would give a low dose at first and build up to teh recommended dose over about a week.
