My grey Connie had a small sarcoid. I started using Sarcex about December time. It dropped off end of May. Persevere. It took longer than expected but it did work!

Ive been using Sarc-ex powder for my house for about 5 years. Previously she had 3 years of sarcoids forming. On the last occasion she had 15 sarcoids, some of which were in uncomfortable positions for her. She was treated successfully and then sarc-ex was recommended. Since then she has had no more and, fingers crossed, will never be suffering from them again.

Although a very expensive supplement (I only feed it over summer) I do keep buying it each year as after horrendous sarcoids as a 7-yr old, none have returned and he is now 13. It is also a very palatable supplement that he has no problem eating, I did try just organic turmeric but he really didn't like the taste!

How long does a tub last if feeding 2 scoops twice a day thanks

  • VioVet Staff

The scoops are 25ml which is the equivalent to around 13g.

A 1kg tub will last around 35 days fed at the feeding rate for a 500kg horse. 2 Scoops a day. So around 17 days fed at a rate of 4 scoops daily.

My pony has a sarcoid on sheath its dangling also one on side that looks like wart and 2 tiny ones all around same area he's be on sarc ex power for about 2 months 2 scoops a day and also applying the sarc ex cream once a day the dangling one went red and drying out and the others have scabbed over is this a good sign ? Should I continue with sarc ex or try something else ?

  • VioVet Staff

It is a good sign that the nodular (dangling) sarcoid has dried out- the hope is that it will eventually drop off. The fact that the others have scabbed over is also a good sign. Most of these creams work in a caustic manner to dry out the sarcoid. You seem to be having some success with this cream although I am not sure it is strong enough to fully get rid of the sarcoid since the base is likely to still be intact. If after another few weeks you are not seeing any further signs of resolution it would be worth contacting your vet since they can prescribe a stronger cream or better still laser the sarcoids off.

Can sarc-ex and your tumeric supplement be fed together ?

Elliot

Can you feed the sarc-ex supplement along with tumeric supplement ?

  • VioVet Staff

As long as you do not give excessive amounts of these different supplements and you follow the recommendations for each of them, it is regarded as perfectly safe to give them together. However I would have to say that the whole subject of the use of herbal supplements and giving them together is based on fairly scant scientific evidence, so it is often not possible to say anything much about them with absolute certainty. Through widespread use though, a good level of confidence has been built up about their safety.
