Our dog has been using this product for some time now and he definitely benefits from using it. He has had issues in the past with both hind legs and this helps enormously.

Suitable for dogs with ckd

Joh

Is this product suitable for a dog with stage 2 kidney disease on a low protein low phosphorius low sodium diet.?
Thanks

  • VioVet Staff

I recommend discussing any additions or changes to your dog's diet past your vet if they have kidney disease of any form. Even slight changes to the diet of an animal with severe kidney disease can worsen the problem. It is highly likely that Joint Aid will cause no issues in a dog with IRIS stage 2 renal failure but I cannot guarantee this. The ingredients that help the joint themself will contain protein/phosphorus/sodium in some form and it is hard to fully assess this impact on your individual dog's underlying issue, but your vet can.

Using with other medication

Sue

My Lab has been diagnosed with arthritic carpal joint caused by tendon problems The foot is flat on the ground, would this help her, she is on 1/2 tablet twice a day of Tramadol and 1 tablet a day of 1mg Prednisolone once a day would be ok to have joint aid and the medication.

  • VioVet Staff

Yes Joint Force is safe to use alongside other medication, including Tramadol and Prednisolone. It contains ingredients that help with normal joint repair and function. You may not see an improvement on the conformation of the carpal joint when using Joint Force, as this is a tendon issue, but it will help to reduce the progression of the arthritis and can improve signs related to this.

Using this alongside other supplements

Laura

  • VioVet customer since 2017
  • From: Northamptonshire, United Kingdom

Hi, please could you let me know if it is safe to use this alongside the Yumove joint supplement chewable tablets for my dog?
My dog is 8years old, weighs 47kg and suffers with arthritis in back legs.
Many thanks

  • VioVet Staff

Hello.

We wouldn't advise that you use two joint supplements together, especially as they contain similar ingredients. Although both products have proved very effective in many dogs it is what your dog responds to best. I would suggest using one or the other not both. If you require a stronger strength for a more severe condition, your vet can suggest Yumove Advance that is only exclusive to vets or directly from the manufacturers.

Side effects

Liz Morris

  • VioVet customer since 2016
  • From: Norfolk, United Kingdom

My beagle is nearly 7, he has quite a sensitive stomach. I have been giving him yumove for the last 2 weeks but have had to stop as it is causing him discomfort and it makes his stools very soft. I was wondering if this would be a better product for him

  • VioVet Staff

The answer is that you would have to try it to find out. Generally none of these products upset the digestion, but some dogs as you say are easily upset. You should allow a gap between them both, then make sure that you are very consistent with the normal diet, then see what happens if you try it. All should be well, but it is impossible to guarantee. They are different products with reasonably different ingredients, so there is no real reason to think that this one will cause problems.

Strength of glucosomin

lynn

I have flexidog chews with a glucosomin content of 600mg per chew. What is the equivalent amount of glucisomin in one measure of joint aid?

  • VioVet Staff

Hi Lynn

The man at GWF has told me that "Glucosamine is included at 2%, so on a 10gm (one measure) inclusion, it will provide 200mgs."

Hope that helps.

Expiry date?

shelf life

What is the shelf life of this. If I bought a large tub which will last over 6 months, will it go out of date?
Many Thanks

  • VioVet Staff

Generally our stock of this product has much more than 6 month's expiry date. If you order some, you can always stipulate when ordering that you need a minimum of 6 months before the expiry date. If you order online, click on the line "Add Notes for VioVet Staff" to do this on the checkout page.
