Below are some recent questions we've received regarding FRONTLINE Spot On Flea & Tick Treatment Dogs & Cats, including answers from our team.

Will this kill ear mites in cats?
This product is not licensed against ear mites in cats. Only prescription wormers, such as Advocate, are licensed to do this. You can purchase these from us but you will need a written prescription from your vet to do so.

I see this product has fipronil but I’m trying to figure out which of these active ingredients is better for preventing / safeguarding against ticks. They are rife in my area
Fipronil will cover fleas and ticks whilst imidacloprid will only cover fleas. If you are looking for tick cover then it is advised to use Fipronil because of this.
Tracy
Can you please confirm if there is 1 or 3 pipettes in a pack of 1.
I can confirm that a pack of 1 contains 1 pipette, and a pack of 3 contains 3 pipettes.
laura
what strength fipronil per ml is it?
The Frontline Spot On Pipettes contain Fipronil 10% w/v. This means there is 10g of Fipronil per 100ml of Frontline, AKA 0.1g or 100mg per 1ml.

I think my dog might have a tick but due his coat i can see any so i am wondering if this would kill active ticks
Yes this product will kill ticks. The datasheet states the following regarding this:
FRONTLINE SPOT ON DOG does not prevent ticks from attaching to the
animals, but ticks will be killed in the first 24-48 hours after
attachment, before they are fully fed and therefore minimising the risk
of transmission of diseases. Once dead, ticks will often drop off the
animal, but any remaining ticks may easily be removed by a gentle pull.
Wendy Compton
Can this be used on puppies?
Frontline Spot On for dogs can be used in puppies. It should not be used in puppies less than 8 weeks old (and /or weighing less than 2kg) though.
Laura
Is this suitable for kittens ?

The dogs regularly get ticks on them in the summer. How often does this product need to be applied? We have a one year old Jack Russell cross and a five year old Sprocker
It is recommended to repeat treatment every 4 weeks if wanting preventative cover. This equates to monthly applications for the average owner.

How to apply the liquid so it actually sinks into the flesh and you do not loose it running off.
The hair should be parted and the product applied diretctly onto the skin on the back of the neck, between the shoulder blades. You can apply the pipette in multiple places if you are finding it is running of the coat easily.
