Equimins Probiotics Inner Balance is a palatable supplement for horses and foals that can be added to drinking water or sprinkled onto feed. Containing the important strains lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidobacterium, together with Bio-Mos oligosaccharide, it is highly recommended for use as a quick pick me up and at times of stress.

Friendly bacteria, Lactobacillus Acidophillus and Bifidobacterium are included in this supplement at very generous levels. These friendly bacteria have a unique enteric coating that withstands the acid environment of the stomach ensuring that they arrive intact in the small intestine where they do their work.

It may also be used on a regular daily basis to help ensure a good balance of active friendly flora in the gut.

Store in a refrigerator if possible but keep below 10 degrees C.

Always replace the lid after use.

55 Good probiotic

This is a good probiotic, I use it to support my horse before and after he is wormed, as chemical wormers aren't particularly kind to his digestive system. This doesn't contain brewers yeast or alfalfa meal, which I try to avoid. It works well for my horse.

This probiotic for horses contains Lactobacilli and Bifidobacterium as the active microbial content. Bifidobacteria are anaerobes but have a similar effect on milk being lactic acid bacteria to Lactobacilli This is the only one I have found for horse with this combination as the others all seem to contain yeasts. As an old microbiologist there is good evidenced in humans that lactobacilli reduce recovery times following eg acute gastroenteritis. There is no good evidence that they should be regularly taken. So horses bowels are very different then the impact of either yeasts or lactobacilli may be different. So I just choose this product because I am comfortable with the microbiology and would prefer not to use yeasts on humans or horses. Not awfully scientific I'm afraid. Of course with many "medicines" it is impossible to tell whether probiotics have helped your horses or not but I feel better giving it to particularly my older horses. Probably not much help to the horse fraternity but just my view so have given three stars for effectiveness as can't be sure how effective it is. Ken Ashley
