Haven't used for long enough but apparently this is excellent for brittle hoovrs, as always a great service from viovet.

55 Substitute for soil

My horse has a tendency to ulcers. One indication that things are not alright is seeing him licking soil. Apart from a number of natural supplements I give him to help his digestion (aloe vera, marshmallow, slippery elm, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds) I decided to use limestone flour instead of antiacid products. I thought if he feels the need to lick soil, he may as well ingest something that won't cause irritation, after all soil will have sand. So far it appears it is keeping him off the mud.

Laminitis and limestone

ELAINE SMITH

Is limestone good to feed to horses with laminitis

  • VioVet Staff

Hi Elaine,

The product is not formulated specifically for horses with laminitis, so it won't have any benefit in this area. It won't contribute to problems though, as it is purely calcium.

Hope this helps.

Can i use this for poultrey

Zoe

Hi just wondered if I could use this for my chickens and quail

  • VioVet Staff

This product is intended for horses of course, but it could be given to your birds safely enough as a calcium supplement.
