Can this be used to treat red mites on chicken s?

  • VioVet Staff

Equimins Lice & Mite Formula (lotion/spray) is formulated for horses—it's a natural, herbal insecticide containing quassia or benzyl benzoate designed to eliminate lice and mites from equine coats. While it's effective for horses, it's not licensed for use on poultry and hasn’t been tested for treating chicken red mite.

Spray

June

Why can't it be sprayed directly onto legs?

  • VioVet Staff

The best way to get an even coverage of the product is to rub the solution onto the area itself. Spraying will likely cover certain areas but not others and so may not cover the area evenly.

Pregnant mares

Jess

Is this product safe to use on pregnant mares?

  • VioVet Staff

This is a mild, safe, herbal product which would not be expected to cause any trouble at all if used on a pregnant mare. I think you will be perfectly OK to use it.
