Description

Seraquin® Digest (was Canikur Pro) is a tasty paste for both dogs and cats that contains naturally sourced, science-supported ingredients to help balance your pet’s tummy and support healthy digestion.

Backed by 140 years of pet care experience, this supplement contains both probiotics and prebiotics. It’s packed with a high concentration of E. faecium, a naturally present probiotic that’s clinically shown to help dogs with gut trouble. The prebiotic BioMos-C helps to promote the growth of the good bacteria in the gut while also stopping bad bacteria from flourishing. It also includes montmorillonite clay, which works to enhance poo consistency and support cats and dogs with upset tummies.

This clay has a unique structure that makes it ideal for binding and removing bad bacteria, viruses and toxins. Our irresistible tasty paste can be easily dispensed directly from the nozzle into your pet’s mouth or mixed with their food. There’s a wheel on the plunger that provides the correct amount.

How many tablets are required to maintain healthy stools?

Nicola Richards

My spaniel suffers constantly with loose stools. How many Canikur tablets are required daily to maintain healthy stools?

  • VioVet Staff

You should dose according to the feeding guidelines provided below:

Body Weight <5kg 6-15kg 16-25kg 26-40kg 41-60kg >60kg
Number of Tablets 1 2 3 4 5 6
Total for 2 day course 4 8 12 16 20 24

If your dog has recurrent loose stools then this could be due to an underlying problem. it is recommended you see your vet to discuss further, especially if signs do not improve on the Canikur.

Canikur tablets

angel

my cocker spaniel is around 12/13 years old she a rescue so haven't got the exact dob. She has pancreatitis and recently has had been getting upset tummy. I'm very careful with her diet. I have been giving her canikur recently and she improves when she is on it. Can I keep her on it indefinitely as it seems to do the trick.

  • VioVet Staff

Yes Canikur can be safely used in the long term, even indefinitely if required. It is great for supporting conditions such as pancreatitis and works by promoting normal gut health.

Yes this product is safe for use in 8 week old puppies, it is essentially safe for use once puppies are properly weaned.

Kitten

Sue

Can I give Canikur to my 9 week old kitten?

  • VioVet Staff

Canikur is really intended for dogs. However you could use an alternative probiotic paste such as DiaHalt or VetPlus Promax which is fine to give to kittens once they have been weaned off their mother. Feeding several smaller meals a day is a good idea too- this prevents overloading the digestion and will speed up recovery.

Which is best for my dog?

Jennifer Bennett

My 9 year old GSDs frequently suffer bouts ofdiarrhoea relatedto stress/ colitis. Will Canakur paste be more effective than the tablets?

  • VioVet Staff

I would not expect much difference in efficacy between Canikur paste and tablets. If your GSDs are regularly suffering with diarrhoea, then a different approcah to prevention might be better than looking for a treatment when it happens. Many people find that Pro-Kolin Enterogenic works well in this sort of situation. Alternatively I might suggest trying a completely different type of diet. Some GSDs do better on a fish-based, wheat free diet. Barking Heads Fusspot (based on salmon and potato) is a good example. It is OK to use Canikur when there is a problem, but you might never need to if you can make life easier for the gut in the first place.

With or without food

Catherine

Should i give CanikurPro paste for my dog with or without food.

  • VioVet Staff

It can be either mixed with food or given straight from the tube without food. Most dogs will take straight from the tube due to the meaty flavour.

Canikur Pro for older dog

Paula Roberto

How long can I keep my dog on Canikur Pro for? That his is the first time my dog has been on it. He is 14 years old and I have never used it before , until I changed vets last Monday. It has been excellent, but I am just wondering how long can you keep a dog on it. He is very prone to getting diarrhoea.

  • VioVet Staff

It is safe to continue for as long as you need to. Usually it is fine to stop it when the digestion is back under control, but it is sensible for the first few days after stopping, to feed a bit less food and make sure it is easily digested foods. You can start using it again whenever you need to.
