Description

Everyday wellness from day one, with Burns. Made with simple, natural, high quality ingredients, this complete recipe has helped generations of dogs to thrive.

Burns Sensitive Duck & Brown Rice is formulated to support dogs with sensitive skin and digestion issues. Made with novel ingredients, a single protein source and a gentle hypoallergenic formula.

Veterinary surgeon John Burns began making dog food in 1993 to help dogs stay healthy, creating simple, natural, highly digestible complete recipes. He'd seen how poor diets caused skin, digestive and behaviour issues. We still follow that same straightforward approach - wholesome ingredients, solid science and a focus on what dogs truly need.

  • 100% complete food for adult and senior dogs of all breeds, formulated for sensitive dogs
  • Hypoallergenic and single-source novel protein to avoid common allergies
  • Highly digestible for sensitive stomachs
  • Omega-3 for healthy skin & coat
  • Taurine for heart health
  • Seaweed for healthy bones

DAILY FEEDING GUIDELINES
Choose the starting point that best fits your dog:
Standard adult dogs: 14g per 1kg of body weight per day (for dogs with typical daily activity).
Sensitive adult dogs: 10g per 1kg of body weight per day (for dogs who do better on smaller meals, especially those with delicate digestion).
Senior dogs: 8g per 1kg of body weight per day (for older or less active dogs).

Every dog is different; adjust the quantity to suit your dog’s individual needs. You may need to reduce the amount you feed for several reasons, such as if your dog is neutered, less active, or fussy. Overeating can lead to digestive issues. For dogs that are overweight, base the daily feeding amounts on their target weight rather than their current weight. You may also need to increase the daily amount for a more active dog. Unless advised otherwise, transition your dog to their new food gradually over 10–14 days.

Burns food is formulated to support the health and wellbeing of adult dogs of all ages and breeds.
This variety is also approved as a PARNUT (dietetic) food for the nutritional management of reduction of ingredient and nutrient intolerances.
It is recommended that a veterinarian's opinion be sought before use and before extending the period of use. Recommended duration of use: 3–8 weeks. If signs of intolerance disappear, this diet can be used indefinitely.

We have had a long journey, from 3mths old it's been sensitive tummy, yucky poos, itchy skin and ear problems. We have had 5 months on a Vet recommended diet which worked wonders THEN it's back to trial and error introducing a brand and having to go back to special diet, we did try the Pork and Potato with no success spoke to Burns direct and was advised to try the Duck and Rice - AND -fingers and toes crossed we have one happy hound we are just coming to the end of our first bag and all is good. As you can see from photo she is more than willing to "tuck in" I will update our progress in another month.

My dog is happy with this food but I wanted to review the service from Viovet. It has been so simple to order and I have to commend you on how easy it is to change subscription details and /or cancel items. Also on one occasion I had to call you to query something and it was a very helpful and cheery person on the other end of the phone which is a bonus these days! I would definitely recommend you to friends.

Suitability

Catrina Lyons

My dog requires a low fat/fat free food, is this suitable for her? Or can you recommend anything please?

  • VioVet Staff

Dogs do need some fat in their diet, so a totally fat-free food would not be good for very long. A low fat kibbled diet (ie dried biscuit type food) would be about 7% fat. This Burns diet is stated to have 8% fat, so it is marginally above that, but it is much lower than many other diets. I would think it would be suitable for your dog, but you should check with your vet ideally. A good example of a diet with 7% fat would be Royal Canin Gastro-Intestinal Low Fat Dog Food but that is bit more expensive than the Burns dog food.
