Advantage Spot On Flea Treatment is an effective solution that can be used for both the treatment and prevention of flea infestations. Fleas are killed through contact and do not need to bite your pet to be killed1. Advantage also kills flea larvae in the home, wherever the treated pet goes*.
Fleas are terrible for your furry friend. They cause itching and irritation, carry diseases, and if your pet swallows one while grooming, they could get tapeworm. What’s worse is only 5% of fleas live on your pet. 95% of their lifecycle lurk in carpets and beddings, so if you discover fleas on your pet, you may need to treat your home too.
Advantage flea treatment for dogs, cats and rabbits gets to work quickly killing fleas in 24 hours and continues to protect cats and dogs for up to 4 weeks and up to one week for rabbits. Once applied, Advantage spreads quickly across your pet’s skin and coat. The product is not absorbed into the body or bloodstream, meaning that fleas do not have to bite to be killed1. Advantage also treats biting lice on dogs.
How to Use Advantage Flea Treatment for Dogs, Cats and Rabbits
Advantage is a spot-on formulation. For cats and rabbits, the contents of the pipette are applied directly to the skin by parting the fur at the base of the skull. For dogs up to 25kg the contents of the pipette are applied directly to the skin between the shoulder blades. For dogs 25kg and over the contents of the pipette should be applied to the skin in 3 to 4 spots from between the shoulder blades to the base of the tail.
INSTRUCTIONS
The application of Advantage flea treatment is easy and fuss-free.
Step 1:
Use the Advantage product that is suitable for the weight of your pet.
Step 2:
Hold the tube in an upright position and twist and pull the cap to remove it. Use the reversed cap to twist and remove the seal from the tube.
Step 3:
For dogs weighing less than 25kg: The spot-on treatment needs to be applied to the skin between the shoulder blades by parting the fur. Squeeze firmly to empty the contents of the tube.
For dogs weighing more than 25kg: The spot-on treatment needs to be applied evenly to the skin at three or four spots along the dog’s backline from the shoulder to the base of the tail. At each spot, part the fur until the skin is visible.
For cats and rabbits the spot-on treatment needs to be applied to the back of the pet's neck at the base of the skull. Part the fur until the skin is visible and squeeze firmly to empty the contents of the tube. Applying the product to the base of the skull will minimise the opportunity for the pet to lick the treatment.

What flea treatment can I use for my ferret
Advantage is not licensed for use in Ferrets. You can purchase Frontline Plus for cats and ferrets for use in your ferret though.

Hi can I use advantage flea spot on for my dog that is breast feeding her puppies
Studies on pregnant and lactating bitches, queens and dogs together with their offspring are limited. Evidence so far indicates that no adverse effects are to be expected in these animals. However without definitive proof it is not advised to use Advantage in a lactating dog. You can use products like Frontline Plus safely instead.

Is the advantage flea treatment suitable for a 4 month old kitten, I have 2 older cats that I use it on & don't really want to be buying 2 different products
Thanks
Yes Advantage is safe for use in a 4 month old kitten, it is suitable for kittens 8 weeks or older. You will need to weigh your cat to determine what product to purchase, the small cat <4kg version or the large cat >4kg version. It is highly likely your 4 months old kitten will currently need the small cat <4kg version.

Would this be suitable for a fairly large fully grown Guinea Pig? Thanks
This product is not licensed for use in Guinea Pigs and so we cannot advise on this use. You can use Guinea Pig licensed medications like the Beaphar Anti-Parasite Spot On, this will protect against fleas as well as other parasites.
