It does take away the heat from the feet and he looked more comfortable straight away. However, do not think like I did and put twice the amount suggested on a bigger foot because you think it needs it. I wrapped the bare feet as suggested, in plastic, then elastic bandage. Then I put hoof boots on overnight. OMG - The next day it was everywhere! I also had the farrier coming and I could not get it off his fetlocks. It really is like glue. He still has sticky fetlocks 3 days later. Despite me rubbing them down with 1/4 pint of vodka, followed by baby oil to try and get rid of the glue. Proceed with caution!!!!😅

This product really helps my barefoot mare. I use it once a week and after a day of hard exercise. After applying I hold in place with a nappy and then put her boot over the top and leave on for 12-24 hours (she lives out). After removing the boot the packing stays in for 1-2 days. I did find it gets caught in her hair above her heel so I would coat the area in vaseline before using magic cushion. I use baby oil to remove any caught in her hair.
I see her comfort improve after use and the heat reduction is noticable. I also find her she grows so much more foot since using it. This does lead to a lot of sole shedding so you may want to bring farrier appointments closer.
I would recommend for barefoot transitions and bruising recovery, as well as general use after hard work along with ice boots.

There are quite a few sizes of this Magic Cushion product so I will give you the approx dosage amounts for the two we have.
The 1.8kg is 20 doses
The 4kg tub 50 doses

how do you use this product .what is it made of and how log will stay on
It is usually applied by hand (wear gloves) and has a consistency of slightly moist earth/soil. It is a proprietary product and I do not know the ingredients. It is often bandaged against the hoof, though it can be used without. See this video on Youtube:
