A tortoise named Speedy Gonzales is ready to find a new home after being found wandering the woods in Dumfries and Galloway.
The tortoise was taken to the Scottish SPCA after being found by a member of the public.
Tracy Cannon, animal rescue officer at the charity, said: "This is the second tortoise I've rescued in as many weeks which is quite unusual.
"We can only assume that the short burst of hot weather we had recently has resulted in them escaping from their owners gardens."
She added that staff at the rescue centre do not think Gonzales wandered far from home and is possibly from the village of Colvend.
Anyone who is missing a tortoise from the area is being urged to come forward.
The other tortoise that was discovered by the SSPCA was Whizz, who was found crossing a busy road near Annan. The animal was returned to her owner following local press coverage.
