Monday, 14th May 2012

Pudsey the dog and his owner Ashleigh Butler, 17, won Britain's Got Talent on Saturday night (May 12th) and will now perform for the Queen at the Royal Variety Show.

The cross breed dog may also be treated to a few new pet toys as the duo also won £500,000 as part of the competition.

During the event, Simon Cowell, who has great fondness of dogs, said the pair was one of his “favourite ever acts”. When it was announced Ashleigh and Pudsey had won, the judge added that his “life’s work is now complete”.

Following the competition, Ashleigh told the Daily Mail that she had started training Pudsey in agility from when he was one year old.

She told the news provider: "He's still so young and absolutely loves training and performing. If we don’t do anything for the day he runs around as if he's saying, 'Come on, come on, let’s go'."

Ashleigh added that Cowell had wanted to have his picture taken with Pudsey and the dog kept the music mogul waiting.

Opera singers Jonathan and Charlotte came second and Welsh choir Only Boys Aloud were placed third.
