Plenty of pet toys 'will help to stop destructive animals'

Invest in pet toys if you don't want your dog chewing up all your furniture, an expert has said.

Leanne Potts, writing for, said there are a number of ways pet owners can redecorate their homes while keeping their animals in mind.

"It's important to give your dog something to chew on, or he might go after a chair leg," she wrote.

Ms Potts also noted that it is important to groom your animal often, as doing so will help to keep furniture cleaner.

If you have carpets, it is important to vacuum regularly, possibly every day if your pet is shedding.

When it comes to choosing colours, the writer also said pets can be a source of inspiration.

She wrote: "Paint a concrete floor the same shade of gray as your cat. Cover your sofa in a honey microfiber that matches your golden retriever."

According to Ms Potts, picking colours similar to your pet is a practical decision because any hair they leave behind will not be as visible.
