Owners install doggy stairlift for their pets

It's not unusual to hear of pets living the high life with fancy dog food and designer clobber at their manicured paws. But have you heard of canines with their own personal stairlift?

This is precisely what Sheila and Harry Lee of Ossett, West Yorkshire got their three dachshunds after six-year-old Pippa had a £5,000 operation on her spine.

Millie, seven and Heidi, six were also struggling taking the stairs to their beds which prompted the loving owners to invest in a £1,500 stairlift.

Mrs Lee said: "We saw an advertisement for the stairlift and thought 'Why not?'

"Dachshunds often develop back problems and they were struggling to get up the steep steps into our bedroom, which is where they’ve always slept."

The dogs were adopted five years ago from West Yorkshire Dog Rescue where Sheila works as a volunteer.

She taught the trio to use the stairlift by rewarding them with treats each time they used the machine correctly.
