A pooch from Northamptonshire will no doubt be treated with a few new dog toys after helping its 16-year-old owner scoop the top prize in a national dog festival.

Ashleigh Butler and Pudsey were in the team that won the gold medal at the Kennel Club International Agility Festival for England, reports northantset.co.uk.

Ms Butler told the news provider: "It feels amazing that we did so well and won. We're all really proud of our dogs and the fact that we got to represent our country at the International Agility Festival, as the competition was stiff this year.

"All my family and friends are very pleased for me."

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club communications director, added that the pair set a "great example" for other people to follow, as agility is a "really fun" way to get fit and is available to all dogs and owners.

The Kennel Club recently launched the Get Fit With Fido campaign, which aims to improve people's health and lifestyles by exercising with their dogs.
