New website lets owners share their dog with other pet lovers

We all know someone who would love to have a dog but lack of space and unsociable work hours can be a deal breaker for many.

Now, help could be at hand for those in such a predicament with the new website Borrowmydoggy.com.

The purpose of the site is to match busy dog owners with local people who have time to take their beloved pet out for walkies and playdates using dog chew toys.

The 'borrowers', who are unable to have a dog of their own, can currently register for free on the website. They are required to detail their experience with dogs, their availability and to upload a photo of themselves.

Meanwhile owners write a description of their pet and specify what they would like the borrower to take charge of – whether it be walks, grooming or care in the home.

Rikke Rosenlund, who came up with the concept told MailOnline: "I love dogs, but I don't think it would be fair to have one in my London flat. Walking someone else's is the perfect compromise."
