Owners are being urged to pop on their pooch's dog collar and lead and take their four-legged friend for some exercise.
The Kennel Club has launched its Get Fit with Fido campaign following research that revealed the extent of people's sedentary lifestyles.
Findings showed that children are mirroring their parents' lazy lifestyles, with 80 per cent not getting the recommended daily amount of exercise.
A further three in ten children get less than 30 minutes of exercise per day.
However, research also showed that a quarter of people in the UK believe having a dog would make them exercise more, while 86 per cent of owners say they have become more active since getting a dog.
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club spokeswoman, said: "The Get Fit with Fido campaign is about getting people up, out and active with their dog, improving the health and lifestyle of both themselves and their dogs.
