People who got a dog last year may well have called it Buddy, as this was the most popular name for a dog last year.
That is according to a survey compiled by petfinder.com, published by animal charity The Blue Cross.
Findings show that other popular dog names were Max, Daisy and Bella, which were voted second, third and fourth respectively.
Other names that featured on the list were Charile, Jack, Saide, Rocky, Molly and Lucy.
There were a number of similarities when it came to the most popular cat names, with Lucy being voted the top name.
Other correlations were Bella, Charlie, Daisy and Molly, however, Smokey, Tiger, Oreo and Midnight also featured on the list.
The charity also compiled a list of its top ten animals of 2011. In its top spot were war horses, which fought and died in the First World War.
They were picked to coincide with the release of War Horse, a film adaptation of the book and play that has become a Broadway success.
