New TV show to go behind the scenes of animal charity

Thursday, 30th August 2012

Paul O'Grady is getting set to find out what it takes to work at an animal welfare charity, giving the residents pet food and cleaning out their kennels.

The flamboyant chat show host is going behind the scenes at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home as part of his new ITV series Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Dogs.

Mr O'Grady spent over two months working at the charity while recording the show. He said: "This has been one of the nicest jobs I've ever had. Everybody knows Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, it's one of the jewels in London's crown and it’s a joy to be there; I feel so at home.

"I'm hoping that people will watch this programme and see what a happy, professional environment it is."

He added that the show is great for all the family and is generally happy, although there are some sad parts too.

Claire Horton, chief executive of Battersea, said she hopes the series will show the nation what goes on behind its gates.

Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Dogs starts next Monday (September 3rd).
