A cat rescue charity has received a £1,500 donation which will be used to buy pet medications.

The Bristol and Wales Cat Rescue charity was given the donation by healthcare provider Simplyhealth.

Margaret Brittan, trustee of the cat rescue centre, said: "Thanks to Simplyhealth's donation we can ensure that more cats are re-homed and that our other services, such as our discounted vaccination programme can continue."

"By working alongside other animal centres, charities and vets we can give the cats we foster a fresh start in a loving home."

She added that in 2010, Bristol and Wales Cat Rescue re-homed more than 400 cats and provided a discounted neutering scheme for kittens when they are old enough.

Jamie Wilson, spokesperson for Simplyhealth, said that the company is pleased to help the rescue centre with the work it does.

Bristol and Wales Cat Rescue is a not-for-profit organisation that relies on donations and fundraising activities to cover the cost of the service it provides.
