Berkshire 'becoming more pet friendly'

Thursday, 9th June 2011

An increasing number of people in Berkshire may be buying dog food and cat food, as an animal charity has revealed the area is becoming more pet friendly.

According to figures released by Battersea Dogs & Cats Home Old Windsor, the number of animals re-homed in the region has risen by nine per cent compared to this time last year.

The most popular part of Berkshire for animal re-homing was Windsor, with residents adopting 75 dogs and cats last year.

Kaye Mughal, centre manager at Battersea Old Windsor, said: "One of our main aims is to place as many animals as possible into loving new homes so these statistics are really encouraging and we hope they continue to rise."

She added that the centre will be holding its annual fun day, where people can go along and meet some of the residents at Battersea.

The fun day will be taking place on June 25th.
