Lurcher so stressed he keeps injuring his tail

A Lurcher that is so stressed in kennels that he keeps on injuring his tail is getting desperate for a new home.

The eight-year-old dog, called Jetson, has been at the SSPCA's Ayrshire and South West Scotland Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre at Mainholm for three months.

Assistant centre manager Lynda Hourston said that Jetson is becoming upset in the kennel environment and is finding life very difficult.

"He wags his tail like mad whenever anyone comes near him and unfortunately he keeps bursting the tip open so we are constantly bandaging his tail up to let it heal," she said.

"We can't understand why no-one is showing any interest in Jetson because he is one of the friendliest, happiest dogs you could ever meet."

Ms Hourston added that it is heartbreaking when she sees Jetson seeking people's attention when they walk by but she said she is confident that his ideal owner is out there.

The charity said Jetson is active with lots of energy who loves walking, playing and having fun.
