Family travel 900 miles to rehome sick English Bull Terrier

Thursday, 12th January 2012

A family travelled 900 miles to provide a new home for a dog that was brought into Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in need of pet medication.

Hugo, a six-month-old English Bull Terrier, was dumped in a box outside with his five littermates in November.

All were suffering from demodectic mange, which has caused their hair to fall out. They were treated at the rescue centre.

Michelle and Brad George saw an appeal for the puppies to be rehomed and immediately fell for Hugo.

Mr George said: "When we saw the pictures of the poor puppies on the internet, we just knew that Hugo was the dog for us. The four of them have been through so much, so it’s lovely that we have the opportunity to give him a new life."

He added that they had been worried that they would not get to give Hugo a home because there was a lot of interest in the puppies, but said that "sometimes things are just meant to be".
