A Yeovil pet store offered residents of the Somerset town a chance to attend a workshop to show owners of rabbits how to raise them in a healthy environment, reports.

The workshops were held at the store itself where owners had the chance to speak to experts on how to care for their pets.

Some rabbit owners were advised to give worming tables to their pets as a preventative measure, may the publication stated.

Jonathan Hamlet, owner of the store, said: "A lot of people don’t realise rabbits can suffer from worms too and need regular worming to prevent parasites."

He explained that rabbits also need to be vaccinated against diseases including Myxomatois and Viral Haemorrhagic Disease.

Keith Hichisson of Langford Nurseries & Garden Centre has explained that people who want to protect small plants from rabbits should cover them with wire netting.

He also said that trees can be protected by purchasing spiral tree guards.
