A dog from Dundee amazed firefighters after surviving a blaze in a tenement for over six hours.

Molly, a Border Terrier, was discovered by the rescue crew as they did their final checks on the property, after all the residents had been rescued.

The dog was taken to a local vet where she was treated for smoke inhalation and a minor injury. She is now said to be in a stable condition.

Blair Fletcher, Tayside Fire and Rescue watch manager, said: "I've never heard anything like this before. It's incredible.

"It has endured over six hours in there and still survived."

According to the BBC, the fire was brought under control last Thursday (April 26th). A spokesman for the fire brigade said that rescue operations involved 50 firefighters, seven fire engines and two aerial appliances.

The news provider noted that chief inspector Sandy Brodie, from the Tayside Police, said it is not yet known what caused the fire.
