Blind cat finds loving new family

An abandoned cat that needed pet meds and his sister have found a new home with a loving family after being dumped by a canal in north London.

Cliff and May were discovered by a member of the public tied in a bag. When the pair were taken to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, it was discovered that Cliff was almost completely blind from longstanding glaucoma.

The disease had left his eyes swollen and cloudy, and staff were worried that his condition would put people off adopting him and his sister.

Luckily, however, Clair Sigley was ready to give a new home to a needy pair of cats after her own cat died.

She said: "Cliff and May sounded really sweet so we enquired about them and when we found out their sad story it made us want them all the more.

"Hopefully in time we can let Cliff out in the garden for supervised play time but for now he and May seem happy sunning themselves around the house."

Ms Sigley added that she cannot believe anyone could be so cruel to abandon them but is happy she can provide the loving home they deserve.

Glaucoma is a disease where the optic nerve is damaged. If left untreated it can result in blindness.
