A man from the town of Nashua in the American state of New Hampshire has been re-united with his long-lost basset hound, having not seen her for ten years.
Jamie Carpentier had decided to casually browse through the pictures of dogs on the Humane Society of Greater Nashua's website, without intending to adopt a pet.
But all this changed when, much to his surprise, Mr Carpentier stumbled upon the photo of Ginger, the dog which he had lost to his ex-wife as part of their divorce settlement a decade previously.
Despite not having seen her former owner in 70 dog years, Mr Carpentier says Ginger "seemed like she knew it was me", and has now settled back into her old life after being re-united with her old master, CBS Boston reports.
Ginger had previously been given up by several owners before winding up at the animal shelter, highlighting the need for people to think carefully before adopting a dog. Providing the necessary care and pet food can often be more expensive than many people think, which regularly leads to pets being abandoned.
