A lucky group of pooches may have been treated to some specially created cake following their evening meal of dog food recently.
On April 7th, a group of students from Framwellgate School in Durham visited the local Dogs Trust to take part in a Dragon's Den-style pitch. Their idea: fresh, savoury cakes baked especially for pets.
Sue Embleton, centre manager at Dogs Trust Darlington, revealed that they had been "delighted" to help the students.
She said: "Our canine residents were only too pleased to sample the doggy cakes and give their verdict!
"The recipes were unusual and the students had done their homework about dog nutrition - for example, they knew that chocolate is poisonous for dogs so made a carob-based treat instead."
Students involved in the task were taking part in a business course at the school.
They had been asked to devise a business idea, its marketing strategy, a business plan and sort out its financial statements.
