Three Staffordshire Bull Terriers currently residing at the Scottish SPCA are desperate for new homes after spending a total of 31 months in kennels.
One of the dogs, Scooby, has been there for 15 months, the longest stay in the charity’s Aberdeenshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre to date.
Debbie Innes, assistant manager, said: "It's truly heartbreaking to see these genuinely affectionate and loving dogs being passed over day after day.
"Poor Scooby has all but given up on life and you can just see the light in his eyes fading as he returns to his lonely kennel at the end of another day without any interest."
She added that all three dogs are slowly slipping further into depression and that sadly, cute fluffy breeds always get chosen over Staffie types.
Anyone looking to take care of either Scooby, Frankie or Oliver is asked to get in touch with the Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999 and then ask to be transferred to the Aberdeenshire centre.
