An older Staffordshire Bull Terrier has been rehomed after being abandoned in Haringey, London.
Polly, who is between seven and ten years old, spent over four months at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.
However, she will now be cared for with a new family, who came all the way from Suffolk to take her in.
Rita Ravenscroft, 79, and her daughter Sue Mallet, spotted Polly on the charity’s website and, after meeting her, found her to be a perfect match for Rita, who was looking for an older dog to share beach walks and a sofa with.
Ms Mallet said: "We're all for supporting the underdog - or in this case, the older dog! More people should consider rehoming golden oldies. They have loads of character and Polly is such a lovely, soft, affectionate Staffie we’re so pleased we found her."
Polly will now be known as Chips, as Ms Ravenscroft has been calling her Staffies Scampi and Chips for a number of generations.
