A lucky Staffordshire Bull Terrier was reunited with his owner after being found 120 miles from his home in Bath.
Two-year-old Fido was found wandering the streets of London and was picked up by the police and taken to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. Fido was microchipped so could be reunited with his owner, Mr Eyles, straight away.
Mr Eyles, Fido’s owner, said he thought he would never see his pet again and could not believe it when he was contacted to say his dog was in London.
He said: "If it wasn’t for the microchip I’d never have found him - every dog owner should get it done. Fido is such a friendly boy and really popular where we live so I know lots of people in Bath will be pleased that he’s coming home."
Tracey Maskell, who works at Battersea, added that Fido’s story shows how important it is to make sure your pet has adequate identification.
