While many pets enjoy traditional dog food treats, residents at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home have developed a taste for Marmite and peanut butter.
The charity is now asking for donations of these products as the dogs at the centres manage to munch through jars of these sticky treats.
After launching this appeal, Marmite sent out a special delivery of 100 jars of its product to lend a helping hand.
Carlton Spears, Battersea Operations Manager, said: “We would like to thank Marmite and all of our wonderful supporters for their generous donations which are bound to get lots of tails wagging. Marmite is so popular with our dogs although we do give it in moderation as a treat.”
She added that life in kennels can get a bit boring, so the staff try to do everything they can to make sure they are happy while they wait for a new home.
These treats form part of the charity’s Kennel Enrichment programme, which includes playing classical music to the dogs as it is thought it has a calming effect.
