Three rescue dogs have been named after the British athletes who won gold medals at the Olympic Games yesterday (August 1st).
Heather Stanning and Helen Glover won the first gold medal in the Coxless Pairs rowing event. Following this, Bradley Wiggins won the Men's Individual Time Trial for cycling.
Following their victories, two seven-week-old Chihuahua puppies were named Helen and Heather and a two-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier was called Bradley at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home
All the dogs are hoping their champion names will lead to success in finding a new home.
Ali Taylor, head of canine welfare training at Battersea is fostering Helen and Heather.
She said: "Helen, Heather and Wiggins are all champions in the making, and we want them all to win the ultimate gold medal, by triumphing with a new home.
"Here at Battersea everyone is right behind Team GB and we hope that naming some of our animals after the team will help spur them on to win even more medals."
Heather and Helen were bought to Battersea when they were just one week old, while Bradley arrived as a stray.
