Pizza mutt: Dog taken into custody for stealing Italian food

Thursday, 7th February 2013

Everyone knows dogs have a soft spot for cheese, although a Siberian husky from Oregon in the United States landed himself in a spot of bother when he let his desires get the better of him.

After escaping from his owner's garden, five-year-old Eysak jumped into the back of a neighbour's car as the family returned from the supermarket, before devouring a whole pizza which had been purchased for dinner that night.

Dismayed at the prospect of having to go hungry, the pizza-less family called the sheriff's office to report the theft, according to Komo News.

A Dog Control Officer was then sent to the scene to apprehend the hungry hound and take him to a local dog shelter where he was later retrieved by his owner.

While many owners allow their dogs to eat human foods such as pizza, it is important to bear in mind that some of the ingredients in these products could be harmful to your pet, which is why it's advisable to keep them on a diet of specially-formulated dog food from trusted brands such as Hills or Burns.
