Manningtree pub serves dog food

Friday, 18th March 2011

Dog food is on the menu at one pub in Manningtree, Essex, after its owner launched a new menu specifically for her four-legged punters.

The Crown Pub has been a dog-friendly establishment for 19 years, but now owner Julie Bain has taken it a step further, reports the Harwich and Manningtree Standard.

She told the news provider: "We have been here for 19 years and it has always been s dog friendly pub, we have always made dogs welcome outside and in the front bar.

"We offer fresh water and free doggy chews and dog biscuits already and thought it would be a fantastic idea to offer a dog menu."

Owners can order their pooches a selection of dog food, including bowls of sausage, chicken, turkey, beef or ham.

Should doting dog owners fancy a trip to the Crown Pub, they will find themselves in one of England's smallest towns, as in 2007 it had just 700 people in 20 hectares.
