David Hasselhoff meets dogs at Battersea

Thursday, 1st March 2012

David Hasselhoff made a surprise visit to Battersea earlier this week (February 27th) when he and his girlfriend Hayley Roberts came to meet some of the animals being cared for there.

During their visit, the couple were particularly taken with a number Staffordshire Bull Terriers - one of many of this breed that Battersea looks after.

The former Britain’s Got Talent judge said: "It saddens me that people are quick to judge these beautiful creatures. Staffies are amazing, cuddly dogs and it’s about time people gave them a chance."

Hasselhoff and Roberts also met a two-month-old mongrel named Dexter. The animal had been found in a cardboard box with nine other puppies. All of the abandoned puppies were hand reared and are now ready to be rehomed.

The actor, who is a dog-lover, added that as an owner of several dogs he had an "unforgettable experience" during his visit.

"I hope that every dog and cat here finds the loving new home they deserve," he said.
