Bull Mastiff sheds lbs after being put on special dog food diet

A Bull Mastiff has managed to lose 4kg after being put on a special low calorie dog food diet after being taken in by a rescue centre.

Missy was bought into Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in April last year because her owners were no longer able to care for her. On arrival, she weighed 46.3kg and was immediately put on a diet.

A year later, six-year-old Missy has been rehomed by Nick and Diane Barker from West Malling, who saw her picture on the charity’s website.

Mr Barker said: "Our dog had recently passed away and we were going to wait before looking for another dog, but then we thought why wait when we have got the space. So we searched the internet and saw Missy, and her sad eyes just made us melt."

He added that if Missy is in the garden now she knocks to be let in. "We just can’t stop laughing at her antics. She is perfect and good as gold," he said.

Missy lost the weight in the rescue centre by having her treats restricted and an increased exercise regime.
