Border Collie image wins Kennel Club photo competition

A beautiful photograph depicting a Border Collie showing off its herding instincts has come out on top at the 2012 Kennel Club Dog Photographer of the Year competition.

The winning picture was taken by Catherine Laurenson from Glasgow, and depicts her Border Collie, Max, in action on the family farm.

“The Border Collie is a highly intelligent and active breed and she has managed to capture both of these characteristics in a single shot,” said professional dog photographer and competition judge Nick Ridley.

“We can reflect upon this image and consider the natural instincts that reside in every dog breed - there are 210 dog breeds in the UK all with different traits and characteristics,” he added.

Ms Laurenson will be presented with her trophy and a designer dog collar at this year’s Discover Dogs event, taking place at Earl’s Court on November 10th and 11th 2012.
