Battersea's longest resident gets new home

Monday, 23rd May 2011

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home has announced that it has re-homed its longest serving resident, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier named Chelsea.

A couple from Enfield will now be feeding dog food to the pooch, who has been living at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home since October 2009.

John and Sylvia Shannon found Chelsea on the charity's website and decided she was the pup for them.

Ms Shannon said: "When we found out how long she'd been there we just couldn't walk away without her!

"She's just such a wonderful dog and we can't understand why she was at Battersea for so long. She's settled into our home straight away and we can't imagine life without her."

The average stay for dogs at the charity is 30 days.

Ruth Dongray, the rehoming and welfare manager at Battersea Brands Hatch, added that there are lots of dogs like Chelsea and that anyone considering getting a pooch should get in touch.
