Battersea Dogs Home celebrating royal wedding

Wednesday, 20th April 2011

Battersea Dogs Home has announced it will be holding special celebrations for the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The charity is inviting visitors to its centres where they can buy a dog food cake to give to the pups.

All three of Battersea's sites will be open between 10.30am and 4pm and there will be a host of activities taking place.

Kaye Mughal, Old Windsor centre manager, said: "It would be wonderful if we rehomed lots of dogs and cats on April 29th to mark the royal wedding.

"We've got princess pooches and majestic moggies all looking for their own perfect union and a palace to call home, so if anyone is thinking about getting a new pet we would urge them to get in touch."

During the day, the royal wedding will be screened live and there will be a traditional British celebration taking place, with a tea party, bunting and children's activities taking place.

The charity will also be making a doggy wedding cake, which visitors can buy to feed to the pups.
