Pet cat home after four years

Tuesday, 31st January 2012

A lost pet is now back at home enjoying cat food  and pet toys after going missing for almost five years.

Ollie, a seven-year-old cat, went missing from his owners’ home in Clifton in 2007 after being let out for the day, reports the York Press.

However, even though Anna and Danny Skelton had given up hope of ever seeing their pet again, he turned up at a Cats Protection rescue centre.

James Hodgkins, from the Cats Protection League, said: "He'd been living as a stray with a couple just outside York in Askham Richard for some months.

"They got to the point where they thought they’d contact us to try and find him a new permanent home. We routinely scan animals for microchips, and his owners picked him up on the same day."

Mr Hodgkins said that Ollie was in good shape and that he was very happy to see his owners.

Ms Skelton added that Ollie recognised her instantly and started purring straight away.
