The winner of a stockpiling competition run by the Observer has been announced, with Orlando the cat emerging triumphant.
Competing against a team of professional money managers and a group of schoolchildren from John Warner School in Hoddesdon, Orlando was able to make the most return on his investments.
Each team was allowed to invest an imaginary amount of £5,000 in companies listed on the FTSE All-Share Index, with Orlando making his financial decisions by throwing his favourite toy mouse on a grid of numbers allocated to different companies.
At the end of the year, the family pet had generated a profit of £542, while the professional team could only pull in £176.
We wouldn't recommend letting your pet invest your hard-earned money on the stock market, although we strongly suggest all animal owners keep their finances in check in order to make sure they have the funds available to pay for pet medications and other treatments should they become necessary.
