Elderly cat enjoys day-time bus trips

Friday, 16th December 2011

An elderly cat from Dorset named Dodger has found a new hobby, which sees him being bought cat food and taken on bus trips from town to town.

The 15-year-old cat gets on and off the bus at his local station, which backs onto his home with owner Fee Jeanes.

Ms Jeanes was shocked when she found out her cat had been taking ten mile round-trips, but believes Dodger began getting on the busses because they are warm like a greenhouse.

She explained that she was shocked when she first heard that her pet had been going on trips and went to go and find him after she was told he was seen on a bus.

"I got into my car to go off and look for him and then at that moment the bus pulled up near our house and low and behold he got off," she said.

"The drivers buy cat food for him and he sits on people's laps."

A spokesman for the bus firm First said that Dodger would be eligible for free travel because of his age, suggesting he could get a "bus puss".
