Downing Street gets new cat

Downing Street officials have had to double the amount of cat food they buy after George Osborne's lost cat Freya was found safe and well.

Freya went missing before the chancellor moved to the flat above Ten Downing Street and the family assumed they would never see her again, reports the Daily Mail.

Now Larry, prime minister David Cameron’s cat, is having to share his famous address. However, the two appear to be getting on well.

A treasury spokesman told the news provider: "She is settling in nicely and getting on well with family, staff and Larry."

Freya went missing from the Osbornes' Notting Hill home three years ago when she was just a few months old.

Two weeks ago, the family received a phone call to say Freya had been living as a stray in a garden just a few streets from the Osbornes' old home.

A microchip revealed the cat's famous father and a few days later she was back living with her old family.

The Cameron family got Larry from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in February last year.
