Cat on football pitch identified

Thursday, 9th February 2012

A cat that became an internet sensation when it wandered onto a football pitch during a Premier League game has been identified as a homeless tabby called Kenny.

The cat shot to fame when it went onto the pitch and walked around Tottenham Hotspur’s penalty area during a match against Liverpool at their home ground of Anfield.

The tabby even walked past Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish. Since its appearance, the cat has even had an official Twitter account set up and has almost 25,000 followers.

According to the Daily Mail, a source from the football club said: "The cat has constantly been seen at Anfield, Monday to Friday, often in the car park.

"It’s a regular visitor. It’s been here for years, but this is the first time it’s got in the stadium."

This is not the first time a cat has become a regular at a football club. Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli recently took a shine to a ginger cat that has been roaming around the team’s ground and even makes sure it gets cat food every day.
