A cat lover from Surrey has been recognised for the 28 years she has spent feeding abandoned kitties cat food and helping them get re-homed.
Heather Cook was crowned Cats Protection’s UK Volunteer of the Year 2011 following a nationwide vote.
Ms Cook is a volunteer and the founding member of the Woking & District branch of Cats Protection.
Speaking about the accolade, she said: "I'm surprised and thrilled to be awarded Volunteer of the Year - thank you to everyone who voted! I hope this inspires others to volunteer as our branch is in desperate need of more cat carers and fosterers."
Julie Meredith, the charity's volunteering development manager, added: "This is a well-deserved win and shows just how much warmth people have for Heather and her dedication to cat welfare."
Ms Cook received her award at a ceremony held at Cats Protection's National Cat Centre in Sussex.
