Cat food treats must be rationed

Offering up cat food treats to your feline friend may be a welcome idea, but owners should always be careful to not dole out too many of these tasty offerings.

That was the advice offered up by former vet David Grant MBE, who previously plied his trade at the RSPCA Harmsworth Hospital for Animals.

Writing in an article for the Daily Express, the animal care expert urged caution among cat owners everywhere.

As he explained, the makers of these tasty offerings have obviously developed a specific recipe to "make the texture and taste irresistible to cats" but owners should take care to read the packaging for help.

"They are intended to be complementary to a good balanced diet and usually there are guidelines as to how much you should feed them," he explained.

So next time you think about administering cat treats, think about those feline waistlines.
