CircoMax Myco is a new vaccine intended for active immunisation of pigs over the age of three days to reduce disease associated with porcine circovirus type 2 infection and lung lesions associated with Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae infection. It has received a positive opinion for granting of marketing authorisation and therefore should be on the veterinary market in the near future.
Porcine circovirus type 2 is a virus of great economic value in pig farming. It is the major cause of postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) and many other syndromes generally regarded as Porcine circovirus associated diseases (PCVAD). Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae is a bacteria that can cause porcine enzootic pneumonia. Vaccinating against these diseases can dramatically reduce the welfare and economic impact on affected farms.
