good to meet you Nick and read your news. I have an aged dog of 17 years, golden retriever Ben., who still a joy for life and eats so well. He has hip problems but still wishes to go out and do his wee mail each morning as early as the light will allow.

Why has my Tom cat started peeing all over the house nothing has changed apart from us being in all the time he also seems bad tempered he is six got two more cats one he grew up with and one who is 8 but had her 5 years

8 yr old male cat - has developed rather loud gurgling sounds from his belly. No pain as he never looks distressed just sleeps through it! Puzzled any thoughts please. Thanks

Please can you recommend a treatment for my 6 adult cats. I really struggle to get them to take tablets and they scratch and hate me forever after. Situation at moment money of vet tight. Please Recomend a combined treatment for worms and fleas. I tbh never noticed fleas but worm eggs all on my furniture is driving me mad. TIA

my hamster has a bold patch on wide side which is quite big he is about 1yr half eating a drinking and exercising. I changed his bedding then he lost fur so cleaned out and went back to original but kept loosing fur he isn't stressed and I have given him a few mite treatment just incase. his eyes are bright so doesn't seem ill. what else can I do he dosent seem uncomfortable

My vet is implying that all other cat and dog wormers you sell other than Advocate don’t protect against all worms? It’s debatable whether Advocate protects against tape worm.? You sell Advocate spot on a £4 per pipette but requires a prescription. We have x4 pets. The vet requires a visit / examination for each at £38 before issuing a prescription @ £15 each. That’s £212 to obtain x 4 Pipettes @ £4 each!!!!
Appreciate your comments please on any alternative and appropriate wormer I can buy that dosn’t require ridiculous vet fees

A Tom Cat urinating in different places is most likely him marking his territory. I would recommend getting him neutered, this can help prevent this. You can also try Feliway, which helps reduce stress. Below is a link to this on our website:

If your cat is straining to urinate (crying when doing so) with only a little coming out, or there is any blood, then I strongly recommend seeing your vet as an emergency. This can mean his bladder is blocked by mucous or a stone, which is life threatening.

Gurgling is the sound of food moving through the stomach/intestines. If everything is normal (eating/drinking/eating/pooing fine) then I wouldn't worry about it.
If your cat is abnormal in any way then I would advise contacting your local vet.

Routinely prevent fleas and worms is a good idea. For the average cat, I would recommend a spot on like Advantage monthly to protect against fleas/lice:

To prevent against worms it is recommended to worm every 3 months. You can buy spot ons for this, such as Dronspot:

However this is more expensive than tablets. If money is difficult then you may want to crush a worming tablet into the food. Our own brand TermaWorm is a good choice:

There can be a few possible causes of hair loss in hamsters. Ruling out mites with a spot on is a good idea, I would recommend an Ivermectin based spot on once every 2 weeks for 3 doses in total. If mites were the problem then you should see an improvement.

If there is no improvement then it could be another infectious cause, especially if the skin is red and sore. I would see your vet for this.
If the skin isn't red then it could be a natural baldness, but it could also be a sign of a more serious underlying problem (like a tumour). I would recommend getting your vet to rule this out too.

Only prescription wormers, those containing moxidectin (Advocate/prinovox) or milbemycin (Milpro/milbemax/milprazon/nexgard spectra), will cover lungworm. This is more of an issue in dogs than cats, it is transferred by scavenging on slugs/snails.

You can cover all other roundworms and tapeworms with over the counter wormers from us though. I would recommend using our own brand, TermaWorm for this (if your pet is good at taking tablets). Once every 3 months is enough:
